FAQs
How can I contact you with any questions?
Email us at info@hilawndc.com.
Do I need a reservation?
Yes, pre-paid reservations are required and can be made for groups up to 16 on Resy (in sizes of 2, 4, 6, 8 or 16).
Due to our limited space and table configuration, reservations are only available in even numbers, so reservations can be made for groups of 2, 4, 6, 8 or 16 (for example: if you have 3 guests, you must purchase for 4 people).
How much are tickets and what do they include?
Tickets are $35 (+tax) which include entry to The Dome, a reserved seating area, and the 90-minute visual experience. Reservations are limited to 90 minutes.
*Please note: tickets are non-refundable but transferrable to another guest.
When are you open?
The “Bloomroom” experience runs from April 4 through May 18. We will be open Wednesday-Sunday (unless otherwise noted), with 90-minute seatings at the times below:
Wednesday: 5:30pm, 7:30pm
Thursday: 5:30pm, 7:30pm, 9:30pm
Friday: 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, 10pm
Saturday: 12pm (all ages), 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm, 10pm
Sunday: 12pm (all ages), 2pm, 4pm, 6pm, 8pm
What is the “Bloomroom” visual show?
Bloomroom will take guests on a truly unforgettable immersive 90-minute visual journey of one-of-a-kind floral artworks from international artist/designer Chris Pyrate, projected above and 360 degrees around the walls of the dome.
Pyrate tells an animated story of spring’s bloom, featuring his signature Cherry Blossoms, flower patterns, aesthetics and characters. Viewers will be in for a surprise as guests begin their visual story in DC, but venture much further, touching on places that have influenced Pyrate’s artistic journey and reflect spring globally.
Australian digital artist Laura Alice brings Pyrate’s creations to life, animating and projection-mapping the scenes to flow seamlessly above. The animations feature artist Chris Pyrate’s iconic cherry blossoms, shifting between night and day as branches grow and the sky fills with millions of falling blooms, moving in sync with the rhythm of the seasons across the planet.
What time should I arrive for my reservation?
We recommend arriving at least 30 minutes before your reservation time to allow for the check-in process. We have a tented & heated welcome lounge where you’re welcome to come as early or stay as late as you’d like (during business hours) and enjoy drinks before or after the show!
Entry to The Dome itself will not be granted until your reservation time, and guests will be required to vacate their tables upon the conclusion of their 90-minute experience to allow for resetting of the space (but again, you’re welcome to bring your drinks to our lounge bar and continue to enjoy your evening with us)!
*For late arrivals, we do understand delays happen, but please note: your reservation only lasts for 90 minutes from start time (running concurrently with the visual projection) so please try to arrive early or on time to maximize your experience!
What are your food and drink options?
For food, Bloomroom’s spring menu embraces a world of flavors, inspired by the spirit of spring's vibrant flower markets. Guests can expect shareable small plates that celebrate the hues of spring, from bright rose and hibiscus, to vibrant english pea and sunset yellow beets, all mirroring the splashes of color within Pyrate's artwork. Several dishes also feature floral infusions, such as edible flowers and herb-infused oils, plus highlight the bounty of seasonal produce like local asparagus, greens and farmstand berries.
For drinks, we do have a full bar, but specialize in bright, fresh cocktails which also take inspiration (via taste, scent and color) from flower markets around the world. Imagine bright, bubbly spritzes, fresh citrus flavors in grapefruit and sage gin & tonics, and boozy cherry soda floats. We also offer spirits, beer, wine and non-alcoholic options.
Is there a food/beverage minimum spend?
No, you’re welcome to join us for a full food and beverage experience, casual drinks and snacks, an after-dinner drink and dessert, or just some late-night cocktails; whatever strikes your fancy!
Can I bring my own food and drink?
No, outside food or beverage is prohibited.
Is your space covered and/or heated?
Yes, The Dome is a 50-foot spherical tent on the Rooftop at Union Market, weather-proof from the elements. It is heated to about 60 degrees, so we do recommend dressing for the weather!
Are there any age restrictions?
Most shows at The Dome at Hi-Lawn are 21+, but we do host two all-ages shows per week (Saturdays and Sundays at 12pm).
Do you host private events?
Absolutely! For events/private dining larger than 6, please email events@thedomedc.com.
How do I get to the dome?
The Dome is located at Hi-Lawn, the rooftop above Union Market. Guests can access The Dome through the (ADA accessible) elevator or the staircase at the front-east entrance to Union Market (near the corner of 6th St. NE & Neal Place).
If you’re driving, we suggest parking in the garage at the Gables Union Market (the building behind us, accessible from 6th St. NE) where they offer free parking for up to 3 hours.
Any other policies I should know about?
No smoking or vaping allowed. No pets allowed.
Who can I contact with media inquiries?
Please contact our publicist Brittany Carlson with Julep PR at brittany@juleppr.com.
